2. User Responsibilities & Safety

For Blinds (Window Covering Safety – ANSI/WCMA A100.1‑2018):

  • NEVER leave accessible cords within reach of young children. Young children can quickly and silently become strangled on pull cords, continuous loop cords, inner cords, or any other accessible cords longer than 8 inches.

  • Choose cordless window coverings whenever possible. CPSC urges consumers to choose cordless window coverings, which are the safest option for children.

  • For corded products: Follow installation instructions carefully; ensure tension devices are properly anchored to the wall.

  • Retrofit existing corded blinds with cord cleats or safety devices.

  • Keep cords out of reach of children.

  • Products that fail to meet operating cord requirements are deemed substantial product hazards under CPSC rules.

For Window Sill Cabinets (Anti‑Tip Safety – 16 CFR 1261 / ASTM F2057‑23 if CSU):

  • If the cabinet meets CSU criteria (≥27″ tall, ≥30 lbs, ≥3.2 cu ft enclosed storage), it MUST be anchored to the wall using the provided anti‑tip device (meets ASTM F3096, tested to 60 lb static load). Failure to anchor can result in tip‑over, causing serious injury or death.

  • Never open more than one drawer at a time. Place heavier items on lower shelves.

  • Do not allow children to climb on the cabinet.

  • The warning label is located on the back or side panel – read before use.

For Window Sill Pads (Flammability Compliance – 16 CFR Part 1632 / 1610):

  • Keep away from open flames, cigarettes, and heat sources.

  • Follow care label instructions for washing/drying.

  • If pad is labeled “FLAMMABLE,” keep away from all ignition sources.

  • Not intended for use by infants without supervision (suffocation risk).
